Long Spined Sea Scorpion - Taurulus bubalis
Variable coloration, usually well camouflaged to its surroundings.
Has a stout body and broad head with Scaleless body and spiny skin.
Has barbells at corners of its mouth and a long spine in front of gill cover.
The long spined sea scorpion is common in rockpools and beneath seaweed on the low shore and also in deep water amongst sea weed covered rock down to 50m depth. It feeds on small bottom living fish and crustaceans.
This species is sometimes confused with the bull rout.
